The Last of Us director says Death Stranding is “really good for the industry” - garciawilland

Death Stranding is "really good for the industry", said The Go of United States director Robert I Straley in an interview with GamesIndustry.game.

In 1999, Straley joined Naughty Dog A an artist on Crash Team Racing and the Jak and Daxter series, before becoming a game conductor for Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, The Shoemaker's last of Us, The Last of Us: Left Behind, and Uncharted 4: A Stealer's Closing. A glittering portfolio, and although Straley nigh Gamy Dog few years past, GamesIndustry.biz managed to collar the industry veteran at the Fun &ere; Serious Game Festival in Bilbao, Spain. Discussing ludonarrative dissonance, Straley explained how characters have evolved and offer opportunities for new stories to be told.

"That's our trouble A designers: in 2007, that's where the industry was, that's where we were. We didn't necessarily have the wherewithal, the clarity then to speak, that we suffice now," he careful, using the contrast of Nathan Drake's personality with the inarticulate heroes Gordon Freeman, Doomguy, and Sea captain Chief that came before him. With The Last of Us, Naughty Dog unsuccessful to show how violence complicates the neat binaries of genuine and evil, right and nonfunctional. "It made you realise as the player that there are true stakes, that the other mankind you encounter inside of the world… were impelled by their own sense of survival," aforesaid Straley. "They had their personal orbit of values that they were goaded away, operating room directed by, which meant they were capable of killing you for a bottle of water and a pair of shoes, because that meant some other day of survival in that Earth that we created."

Vehemence is not the alone means to explore the question of interactivity 'tween player and their avatar. "Ass you create a game that's as interesting and character-driven and compelling as an Uncharted story or Last of USA story without shot?" Straley hypothesised. "I opine you give notice. Again the concept has to be… 'how can I create a rich enough world to leave interesting core mechanism?'" Atomic number 2 went on to commend independent games for offering this to gamers WHO require "something fresh" from their experiences.

Specifically, Death Stranding and Privileged got mentions for "extremely persuasive" stories and mechanism. "I think Hideo Kojima has done something really good for the industry to just try and do something to shake it up a little," he said. "Inside, Playdead's games are fancy for this—very attractive, that don't let in shooting. So yeah, I think there is a paradigm shift in the industry, and I suppose information technology takes a few successes."

Josh thought End Stranding was bizarre and beautiful. Wholesale shots of environmental desolation, sprinkled with cameos from Kojima's first buds, accompanied by a melancholy melody, and a quaternary fence in prisonbreak or four for good measure. Information technology's got to be played to exist believed.
